Feb 17th marked the last heavy squat session before the XPC Pro/Elite Coalition & International Open for the Night Crew.

The ginormous group consisted of Cody, The Grizz, Schwab, Pat, Jimmy Harris, Frankenstein, Zack King, and guest appearances from the Lexen Boss and Chuck V.

Murph, Grizz, Pat, Burke, and Jimmy Harris are going to the meet. These guys took opening weights…. some between a 1st and 2nd, and a few overload sets.

Murph worked up to 6 and a quarterish and then shut it down. He’s had a killer training cycle and we expect him to hit some good pr’s on the squat and deadlift.

This is Grizz’s first multi-ply meet. He worked up to 700lbs and then shut it down.

Burke worked up to 850lbs straight weight then took 935 and 1000lbs w/ the lightened method.

Pat worked up to 780 and 825 straight weight… then took 935 w/ the gray bands.

Jimmy Harris worked up to 875 straight weight then took 985 and 1065 w/ the bands.

The rest of the group worked doubles and triples in various amounts of gear. Zack continues to get stronger raw dog. I believe he ended somewhere in the upper 500′s for a single off a box.

Schwab took several doubles with some moderate weight… somewhere in the mid to upper 700′s. His strength is gradually returning after being laid up for awhile w/ some injuries.

Cody hit a nice full gear pr of 700lbs for a single.

I’m unsure of what Frank wound up with on this day, but he was nice enough to take some video from his new tricked out cell phone. Sorry to Grizz and Murph on not getting any of your big squats on film this time. You two are just entirely too good looking to be in the same video as the rest of us.

Good luck to all of the lifters this weekend. The Pro Bench Bash is Friday night @ the Sports Center. The Pro/Elite Coalition will be Saturday at the Sports Center, and the International Open will be held Sunday at the same venue.

Here is some video of the session.

Night Crew Bench Training 021612

Tonight was our last heavy shirted bench session before the XPC Pro/Elite Coalition & International Open. Jimmy Overkill and the Grizzzzz are competing on Sunday at the International Open while Burke, Pat, and Murph are lifting at the Coalition on Saturday.

Jimmy worked to an opener of 425lbs and did some additional work off of low boards.

Murph worked to a 455 opener and shut it down there.

Pat worked up to 545 then stopped.

Burke worked up to an opener of 570lbs and shut it down.

Grizz took an opening weight in the mid to high 5′s and then did some heavy work off of low boards.

Jimmy Overkill had to jet out early so he wasn’t able to partake in accessories.

Frankenstein is not doing the Coalition, but is a good sport and has been putting his shirt on w/ his every week for what seems like eternity. I believe he worked up to the high 4′s off of low boards.

The rest of the group did heavy 4 board presses for sets of 5, chest supported rows, lateral raises, and grubbed down. I’m pretty sure Murph and Grizz ran over to the Shack to practice some posing in that freshly painted olive drab locker room that’s been getting such good reviews. It’s just a locker room ppl… leave Jason alone.

Here is a bit of video from the session— in this you’ll see Burke, Murphy, and Pat take openerish type weights to the chest. My guy Frankenstein wasn’t able to get a whole lot of other footage of this session. I imagine it’s because he didn’t want to hurt the rest of our feelings considering how much better looking they are.

Notice the shirts are not pulled down at all, and we are holding the weight at the top before the lift begins. There IS A START COMMAND FOR THE BENCH in the XPC. Ladies and gentlemen, do not jump the gun or reds will be thrown.
